EMERGENCY MEDICAL DISPATCHER

Doctors Hospital Health System is seeking internal candidates for the position of Emergency Medical Dispatcher within the Emergency Transport Services (ETS) department. The Emergency Medical Dispatcher serves as the critical communication link between callers, emergency responders, healthcare facilities, and field personnel. This position is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, obtaining and documenting essential information, coordinating ambulance resources, and supporting efficient emergency response operations. The incumbent must exercise sound judgment, maintain professionalism under pressure, and ensure accurate and timely communication to support safe and effective patient care. Essential Functions: Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls in a timely and professional manner. Obtain, document, and verify accurate caller, patient, and incident information. Prioritize calls and dispatch appropriate resources based on established procedures. Monitor the status and availability of ambulance crews and operational resources. Maintain ongoing communication with field personnel throughout incidents and transports. Coordinate communications between ambulance crews, healthcare facilities, and external agencies as required. Accurately document call details, dispatch activities, and operational updates within designated systems. Monitor radio communications and respond appropriately to operational needs. Escalate significant incidents and operational concerns to supervisory personnel when necessary. Assist with maintaining operational records, reports, and statistical data. Support quality assurance initiatives through compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of patient and operational information at all times. Consistently report to work on time and maintain reliable attendance. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management. Advanced Protocol Application: Apply clinical training to provide enhanced oversight of triage decisions, ensuring that dispatch protocols are optimized for patient safety and resource allocation. Clinical Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between the communication center and field crews for complex calls requiring clinical interpretation or support. Operational Quality Assurance: Perform retrospective reviews of dispatch logs and call recordings to ensure compliance with medical standards and internal clinical governance policies. Technical Documentation: Assist in the refinement of Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) workflows, ensuring medical guidance and triage questions are accurately configured and utilized. Training and Mentorship: Act as a clinical resource for non-clinical dispatchers, helping translate medical terminology and clinical priorities into dispatch actions. Inventory Fleet Coordination: Support the monitoring of field equipment status and vehicle readiness through dispatch oversight, ensuring operational continuity.
