About the Role

Emergency Response Africa is seeking a calm and reliable Emergency Medical Dispatcher to receive emergency calls, gather critical information and coordinate appropriate medical response teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, assess and prioritize emergency calls.
• Gather and accurately document caller and incident information.
• Coordinate medical response teams and transportation using dispatch software.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with callers, responders and healthcare facilities.
• Monitor ongoing incidents and follow escalation procedures.
• Maintain accurate call logs and reports.
• Collaborate with medical personnel and supervisors to ensure efficient response.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE or equivalent.
• Strong communication, active listening and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure.
• Computer literacy and basic data-entry skills.
• Ability to manage multiple incidents and follow established protocols.
• Healthcare, emergency services or call-centre experience is an advantage.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Emergency dispatch, First Aid or CPR certification is an advantage.
• Strong commitment to confidentiality and patient safety.
