As an Emergency Vehicle Upfitter, your primary job is to scope out, program, install, troubleshoot, maintain, remove, and service two-way mobile radios, tablets, wireless modems, speakers, lights, sirens, center consoles, antennas, other accessories, and all necessary wiring into customer vehicles. These vehicles include everything from police cruisers, K-9 vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, public works plow trucks, school buses, tow trucks and an array of other commercial vehicles. You will be responsible for exceeding our customers' expectations and fulfilling our company's needs. Our Emergency Vehicle Upfitters are directly responsible for keeping our communities' public safety, education, and public works departments communicating. This is a job you can take pride in and know that what you do matters. You will be tasked out by our garage manager at our Congers NY garage location. Working Conditions

  • Ability to work business hours M-F 8am to 4:30pm

  • Work in our garage in Congers NY and occasionally locations all over NY/NJ,

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understand and fully utilize service software as is required to execute your job

  • Receive a task and complete job tasks as assigned by the Garage manager

  • Intelligently plan and install two-way radios and related equipment into different types of vehicles

  • Ability to properly diagnose and correct a charge guard/power drain/ no power issue

  • Be familiar with center consoles to include the different brands, radio brackets, filler plates, etc.

  • Assist a sales rep or garage manager in scoping out and quoting a vehicle install

  • Follow our “Opportunity to Close Out Process” and others as required

  • Program portable and mobile radios using correct software and cables

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/replace antenna lines, power lines, and antennas

  • Run RF cabling, power lines, antenna lines and CAT5/6 Cabling as needed

  • Cut, splice, and terminate wiring with correct endpoints and hardware as needed

  • Understand AC/DC voltage and power systems

  • Install power supplies, distribution panels, backup power systems and batteries

  • Maintain all company issued tools and equipment and ensure serviceability

  • Understanding of Ohms Law

  • Understanding of RF theory and antenna propagation

  • Work closely with Garage manager to ensure timely completion of work

  • Assist Garage manager as needed with customer and job information

  • Assist other upfitters and technicians with on-site installation
