Summary

Serves as a liaison and program coordinator for the Employee Assistance Program, developing and implementing suicide prevention activities, and providing confidential counseling and referral services to DOJ employees and their eligible family members.

The position is located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Office of Human Capital (OHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The incumbent will serve as an official liaison and program coordinator and will develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate suicide prevention activities in support of department goals and will do so in collaboration with stakeholders withing DOJ as well as other federal government agencies.

The duties and responsibilities for an Employee Assistance Program Specialist, GS-0101-13/14, generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists the JMD EAP Manager in the development of Department programs tailored to workforce resiliency, stress mitigation, improved mental health, effective work life balance, and specialized counseling services in concert with and for DOJ components. Provides confidential, short-term, solution-focused counseling and referral services to DOJ employees and their eligible family members. Provides counseling support to Department leadership, employees and family members impacted by operational traumatic incidents, as well as personal traumas affecting large numbers of people. Creates and coherently presents academic mental health topics to non-academic audiences. Conducts comprehensive evaluations of ongoing functions to ensure that the organization meets its stated goals and identifies areas where operational efficiency can be enhanced. Works with Contract Officer to discuss contract modifications when needed to ensure effective delivery of services.
