FERC is seeking Energy Industry Analysts to fill multiple positions in: OALJ, OEMR, OERA, OPP and OTRE. This means you may be contacted by several different hiring managers for different vacancies. As an Energy Industry Analyst some of your typical work assignments include: In OALJ, gas and oil pipeline EIAs provide expert technical advice to administrative law judges on the varied complex issues in gas and oil pipeline cases that are set for hearing and settlement procedures. More specifically, gas, and oil pipeline EIAs analyze testimony, exhibits, various other filings, legal precedent, and Commission policy to provide accurate and well-supported technical advice to administrative law judges. EIAs also provide technical advice on market-based rates and cost of service rates as well as analyze large hearing records, complex issues, and novel questions. In OEMR, Energy Industry Analysts (EIAs) evaluate complex regulatory matters to support the Commission's oversight of electric and pipeline utilities. EIAs conduct in-depth analyses of filings to identify trends, potential problems, and deviations from statutory and policy requirements. EIAs review and interpret a wide range of technical regulatory data and documents within their assigned areas of responsibility. EIAs develop well-supported recommendations to address regulatory issues, clearly communicating technical findings and implications both orally and in writing. In OERA, EIAs support the Commission's mission to protect customers and ensure effective regulation of wholesale natural gas, oil, and electric markets. EIAs help identify market problems, assess compliance with Commission rules and regulations, and contribute to efforts that detect and remedy market manipulation and other non-compliance issues. In this role, EIAs confer with representatives of jurisdictional companies-including operating personnel, attorneys, and consultants-to clarify industry issues and gather information relevant to audits and investigations. They assist in preparing and analyzing data associated with natural gas, oil, and electric markets to audit entities for compliance with tariffs, rules, and regulations. In OPP, EIAs support the Commission's mission by designing, delivering, and evaluating outreach, education, and engagement efforts that enhance public understanding of Commission processes and encourage broader participation in Commission matters. In this capacity, EIAs conduct and coordinate targeted outreach and education programs initiatives for OPP's diverse constituents, including landowners, environmental justice organizations, consumer advocates, environmental and community-based organizations, and other members of the public. In OTRE, EIAs at this level support the Commission's work on electric and natural gas regulatory matters by analyzing data, regulatory filings, rulemakings and other industry documents to ensure consistency with applicable regulatory principles and Commission policies. EIAs perform moderately complex analyses to identify emerging issues and implications for the Commission's jurisdictional energy markets and infrastructure, and develop recommendations to support team leaders and supervisors. EIAs engage directly with electric utilities and natural gas pipeline companies and collaborate with specialists and stakeholders to prepare and present reports, conduct technical and economic analyses and organize energy-specific conferences that inform the Commission, stakeholders and the public.
