Energy Sales & Marketing Intern
Summary:
To gain working knowledge of Heartland Co-op’s Energy Sales and Marketing Department. Learn processes to increase sales and profitability through implementation of sales, marketing and consulting processes for products and services provided by Heartland Co-op.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learn and understand how to communicate programs and markets to promote purchases of petroleum products and services, including but not limited to, refined fuels, propane, lubricants, risk management tools and tank monitoring systems.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and a friendly atmosphere.
- Learn pricing and credit terms and prepare sales and purchase contracts for orders obtained.
- Assist with promoting and presenting customer meetings.
- Gain understanding of and assist in monitoring activity on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).
- Gain understanding of monitoring area basis levels.
- Assist with monitoring competitiveness for refined fuels, propane, lubricants and related services.
- Gain understanding of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) within Heartland Co-op’s reporting program.
- Gain understanding of and assist in communicating regularly with operations and other sales staff.
- Assists in the development of and communication of petroleum policies and programs.
- Provide input in the development of short and long-range profit plans, specific objectives, and marketing goals.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
