Engine Technician (CAT ET)
The Engine Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of natural gas and diesel engines used in oil and gas production, compression, drilling, and processing operations. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports safe and efficient field operations.
- Utilize Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) software to diagnose, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair diesel engines, powertrain systems, and electronic controls.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on natural gas and diesel engines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, ignition, and lubrication system issues.
- Diagnose and resolve control system issues using SCADA platforms, telemetry systems, and diagnostic software while supporting field operations and customer requirements
- Conduct engine inspections and performance testing to identify potential failures.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
- Complete maintenance records, service reports, and work orders accurately.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to optimize reliability.
- Support field operations during scheduled shutdowns and emergency repairs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Experience with Caterpillar ET
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and engine control systems.
- 2+ years of experience maintaining industrial engines, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of natural gas and diesel engine systems.
- Experience with engine diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read technical documents and maintenance manuals.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- OEM certifications or relevant technical certifications.
- H2S, First Aid/CPR, and OSHA safety certifications.
