Engineer DevOps Tech Merchandise & MDM (React.js) – Albert Heijn Nederland – Zaandam

As a Frontend Engineer, you will help advance Albert Heijn’s technology landscape into a modern, cutting‑edge environment.

You will join the Promotions area of our Retail Business Platform execution cluster, working with teams responsible for creating sales promotions and campaigns that benefit Albert Heijn consumers, while ensuring 24/7 uptime on mission‑critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Help advance our current technology landscape by contributing to technical architecture, standards, and guidelines.
• Develop technical solutions in a modern, innovative technology foundation to scale our core business.
• Develop proofs of concept, write code, implement and run automated tests, ensure security and code quality, and develop best practices.
• Share your expertise and contribute to initiatives within your product cluster and the broader Albert Heijn retail technology platform.
• Be a valued team member who contributes and removes obstacles.
• Share technical and process‑improvement ideas with colleagues in your team.

Qualifications

• Overall 6‑10 years of front‑end engineering experience.
• At least 4‑6 years of front‑end engineering experience with deep hands‑on experience using React.js and an understanding of its core concepts, ecosystem, best practices, and patterns.
• Familiarity with integrating and utilizing React Query for efficient and optimized data fetching and state management in React applications.
• Knowledge of Storybook for developing UI components in isolation, promoting a modular and systematic approach to frontend development.
• Strong proficiency in UI/UX principles and a keen eye for design aesthetics, able to translate them into CSS/CSS‑in‑JS solutions.

Bonus Points

• Experience using Recharts or a similar library for data visualization.
• Knowledge of frontend testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library, and the ability to write unit tests for React components.
• Experience with Swagger.
• Experience consuming third‑party APIs.
• Experience with relational databases and knowledge of basic SQL.
