Job Summary

The Head of Facility is responsible for the strategic planning, operation, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement of all hospital facilities and engineering services. The role ensures that all buildings, medical infrastructure, utilities, and support services operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors while supporting uninterrupted clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facilities Management

  • Develop and implement facility management strategies aligned with hospital objectives.

  • Oversee the maintenance of hospital buildings, infrastructure, and grounds.

  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical systems including:

  • HVAC systems

  • Electrical distribution

  • Water supply

  • Medical gas systems

  • Fire protection systems

  • Vertical transportation (lifts)

  • Building Management System (BMS)

  • Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Monitor facility performance through key performance indicators (KPIs).

2. Engineering & Technical Services

  • Lead the hospital engineering and maintenance teams.

  • Ensure availability and reliability of essential services 24/7.

  • Manage utility consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.

  • Oversee commissioning of new facilities and renovation projects.

  • Coordinate equipment installation with clinical departments.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, occupational safety requirements, building codes, fire safety regulations, and environmental standards.

  • Support hospital accreditation activities (e.g., Joint Commission International, Malaysian Society for Quality in Health, or other applicable standards).

  • Maintain all statutory certifications and inspection records.

  • Prepare for audits by regulatory authorities.
