Engineer I, Senior, Technology

The Engineer Senior I, Technology, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards, is responsible for the activities related to assigned programs and projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and develop engineering application software for ship and offshore plan approval/review in the structural discipline.
  • Coordinate with internal and external users on software application and testing, and improve user experience.
  • Work with relevant support teams to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Collect user feedback, follow industry software trends, and provide suggestions for software improvement.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Completion of an engineering curriculum from a University (B.S. or equivalent) or Professional or chartered engineer license
  • Five (5) years of relevant engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, university, or classification society preferred.

Required/Preferred Education Requirements

  • Professional or chartered engineer license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), or a related field.

  • Proficiency in software development and programming languages/tools such as C#, Python, AQWA, and C++.

  • Familiarity with classification society rules and applicable maritime regulations. Experience in a classification society, shipyard design center, or ship design institute is preferred. Familiarity with classification calculation tools and finite element analysis software such as PATRAN, FEMAP, and FEGATE will be an advantage.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Self-motivated, responsible, and eager to learn new knowledge and technologies.

It Would Be Nice If You Had

Professional or chartered engineer license

Reporting Relationships:

The incumbent reports to a Manager, Staff Consultant, Principal Engineer, or project leader and collaborates with other appropriate organizational elements on assigned tasks. This position does not have direct reports.

Working Conditions

Work will generally be performed in an air-conditioned office environment. Occasionally, the incumbent will be required to visit manufacturing plants, remote field sites, or go aboard marine vessels or structures. Work will be non-manual, but the incumbent must be able to walk and climb among equipment and structures. Occasionally may have to lift between 5‒15 pounds.
