Engineer II, Security Engineering (Managed Services)
Description
As a Security Engineer II, you will support the day-to-day operations related to security services and products. You will leverage your skills to support security initiatives, complete security reviews and work with clients and ivision staff to deliver security services.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Counsel to ensure auditing, testing, preventive and reactive measures are being adequately implemented for infrastructure systems
- Oversight, expertise, technical security strategy, standards, and best practices for multiple programs with various security categorizations (low, moderate and high).
- Create reports and present results to internal and client stakeholders.
- Assist with security setup, assessments, documentation, education and remediation.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Assist with onboarding new security services and clients.
- Reviews, testing and implementation of security requirements within project plan timelines.
- Assist in researching, designing, and implementing new technologies, processes, and controls to improve the organizations defense in depth strategy and security posture
- Ability to manage long term tasks and provide relevant and concise status updates to informed parties while managing overall progress effectively.
- Ability to see deeper than the top level to recognize additional risks and promote their awareness while minimizing exposure.
- Research and tracking of security standards, policies, and procedures.
Operational Management
- Excellent organizational and communication skills are mandatory for various stakeholder audiences.
- Monitor network, systems, and logs to ensure availability to all systems. Investigate and respond to all potential incidents in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Investigate, document, and report threats and vulnerabilities. Keep abreast of the latest security issues and briefing senior Technical Services staff of emerging threats.
- Installing, implementing, administering, monitoring, and maintaining all security architecture technology solutions including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), vulnerability scanning and management, anti-virus management, network access controls, data loss prevention (DLP), public key management, certificate management, identity and password management solutions.
- Reviews, updates and development of all required security documentation.
- Install, upgrade, and support multi-tiered management software products on Windows platforms
- Manage software and hardware configurations and tuning to meet performance and security objectives.
- Build or write scripts to manage monitoring of systems and dashboards.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues in conjunction with application, infrastructure, and vendor groups.
- Document installations, changes, and configurations.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 2+ years equivalent work experience.
- The following certifications are highly desired:
- ITIL
- CompTIA Security+
- GSEC
Knowledge & Experience.
- 2+ years’ experience with security monitoring, tools and standards.
- Knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP.
- General knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of Risk Management Framework.
- Knowledge of NIST, SANS, and other applicable guidance.
- Understanding of orchestration and automation methodologies pertaining to the specific needs of a managed services provider.
- Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
- Experience in a Managed Services environment is a plus.
- Experience in Public Cloud architectures (Azure/AWS) are a plus.
