Engineer - Piping

Summary

Engineer creates and reviews detailed piping designs and drawings for mining projects using AutoCAD Plant 3D, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

We are seeking a full-time Engineer – Piping to join our multidisciplinary Earth & Environment (E&E) team supporting the US E&E Mining discipline.

Working as part of a large engineering group the role requires you to use AutoCAD based software packages to prepare detailed engineering piping drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans & layouts, General Arrangements, pipe supports and isometrics in line with the client requirements.

Additionally, you will also mentor team members consisting of engineers, designers, and technicians and check/review their products.

Must possess detailed knowledge and proven application in all general piping design / layout aspects and be conversant in materials of construction, insulation and installed instruments commonly used. Must possess a thorough understanding of common equipment and routing of all major process and utility piping in accordance with P&IDs and project standards, including the understanding of impact of specific service conditions on piping design

  • Key interface between U.S.-based project managers and the support engineering team in India, ensuring alignment, communication, and quality deliverables
  • Provide design input and perform technical checks
  • Collaborate on plant layouts, 3D models, and detailed mechanical and piping designs

  • Enforce CAD standards and support continuous improvement.

  • Review and comment on drawings at various stages of the design process for functionality, safety, consistency, and compliance with client specifications.
  • Quality checks for General Arrangement Drawings, Piping & Equipment Layouts and Isometric/Fabrication Drawings.
  • Preparation and checking for consolidate Material Take Off (MTO), Valve List and Line List.
  • Strong knowledge in Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Valve Code Standards (VMS) and Weld Symbols & Standards.
  • Maintain a broad general knowledge of mechanical, piping, instrumentation and electrical disciplines to be able to effectively perform the above tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in FEED and/or detailed design engineering within Mining, Thermal Power, or Oil & Gas industries.

  • Mandatory: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D Software.

  • Excellent CAD skills, including considerable experience using AutoCAD Software, AutoCAD Plant 3D and Civil 3D.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D Administration, including project administration, catalog/specification updates, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI standards.
  • Project management experience, especially in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing deliverables
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in stress analysis using Caesar II and with Bentley’s Open Plan Modeler will be an added advantage.
