Head of Engineering at Rachna Sagar (New Delhi, remote-flexible) to lead and grow the software team building and launching an AI-powered LMS for school networks. Core stack is PHP/Laravel, MySQL and Microsoft Azure, with heavy emphasis on AI-assisted development using Claude Code and cloud/DevOps ownership.
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our software development team and manage technology across our LMS platforms, mobile applications, AI-based learning tools and e-learning products.
The primary responsibility will be to lead the development and launch of a new AI-powered Learning Management System (LMS) for large school networks.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge, leadership experience, cloud infrastructure expertise and hands-on experience with AI-assisted development using Claude Code.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering & Team Leadership
- Lead, manage and mentor the software development team.
- Hire developers and build a strong engineering team.
- Define team responsibilities, project priorities and development standards.
- Product Development & Delivery
- Lead the complete development and launch of the new AI-powered LMS.
- Manage project planning, timelines, development and product delivery.
- Ensure smooth migration of existing users and data to the new platform.
- Technical Architecture
- Manage software architecture and technology decisions.
- Oversee development using Laravel, PHP, MySQL and Microsoft Azure.
- Improve existing applications, system performance and scalability.
- Cloud & Infrastructure
- Manage cloud infrastructure, deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure system security, backups, performance and reliability.
- Monitor infrastructure costs and system availability.
- AI-Assisted Development
- Use Claude Code and other AI coding tools for software development.
- Train and guide developers in effective AI-assisted coding.
- Review AI-generated code and ensure quality and security.
- Guide the development of AI-based learning features and tools.
- Security & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure application security, data protection and quality standards.
- Coordinate with management and other departments for project delivery.
- Handle technical discussions, client requirements and project documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years of team leadership.
- Experience managing and leading teams of 8 or more developers.
- Strong knowledge of PHP, Laravel, MySQL and software architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI coding tools.
- Experience developing and managing large-scale SaaS or web applications.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Azure / AWS, cloud infrastructure and DevOps.
- Understanding of API development, database management and application security.
- Experience in hiring, mentoring and managing technical teams.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EdTech, LMS or e-learning platforms.
- Knowledge of AI/LLM integration (OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, etc.).
- Experience with mobile applications and enterprise-level software.
- Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, LTI and data protection regulations.
- Experience working with government or institutional projects.
Education
B.Tech / B.E. / MCA / M.Tech in Computer Science or a related field.
