Engineering Internship Program (Chemical, Electromechanical, Data science, AI)
Summary
6-month on-site engineering internship at AbbVie in Heredia, Costa Rica for university students (50%+ coursework done) in engineering, data science, or AI. Interns support real projects in manufacturing, quality, research, and supply chain — process analysis, lab work, documentation, and data reporting using Excel, Power BI, and SAP — with a monthly incentive and mentorship.
Position Objective:
Provide advanced university students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and develop professional skills through participation in real projects, operational support, research, and continuous improvement within leading companies in the medical technology, healthcare, manufacturing, quality, engineering, and business sectors.
Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out relevant tasks and projects in the assigned area (engineering, quality, processes, research, supply chain, laboratory, etc.)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, process analysis, and compliance with internal and external regulations (quality, EHS, good manufacturing/documentation practices).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in meetings, trainings, and development activities.
- Perform data analysis, information management, technical documentation, and reporting (commonly includes advanced Excel, Power BI, SAP, and other systems).
- Support laboratory testing, sample/data collection and processing, protocol preparation, and technical documentation for experimental or regulatory areas.
General Requirements:
- Active university student (with at least 50% of study plan completed) in one of the following areas:
- Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Electromechanical, Electronic, Data Science, AI).
- Maintain active student status and insurance policies as required by law and company policies.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (B2). Portuguese is a plus for certain roles.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (advanced Excel commonly required).
- Ethical commitment, teamwork skills, initiative, adaptability, effective communication, organizational ability, and attention to detail.
