Engineering Lead
You will be a hands-on engineering manager driving the strategy, execution, and growth of Hex's state-of-the-art AI context platform. You'll help build an entirely new development lifecycle for context, blending human insight with automated learning and iteration, while tackling foundational questions like detecting and debugging failures in agent reasoning, structuring business context, and balancing human-in-the-loop systems with autonomous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team working on Hex's context platform
- Drive technical strategy, review designs, and directly contribute with hands-on work
- Serve as people manager for the engineers on the team, setting a high bar and empowering them to do their best work
- Recruit exceptional engineering talent
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer
- 2+ years experience leading engineering teams working on complex, data-intensive, or AI-driven products and SaaS platforms
- Exceptional ability to identify and design the right technical abstractions to accelerate an ambitious and evolving product vision
- Deep curiosity for, and strong intuition about, state-of-the-art AI agent behavior and context systems
- Proven track record as a people manager, with experience building and operating product engineering teams
- Brings a clear playbook for building high-performing teams: setting clear technical standards, hiring and developing strong talent, and creating environments where extraordinary engineers can do their best work
- Deeply technical leader who is not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on when necessary
