Engineering Maintenance Manager - In-house Services
This position is responsible for the management, execution and supervision of roadway, drainage, right-of-way and other routine maintenance tasks including all accessory actives & variety of drainage swales and storm sewer small in-house construction requests. Provides drainage infrastructure and right-of-way routine maintenance services within the guidelines of County and departmental procedures and regulations, accepted engineering standards and surveying methods, state guidelines, and approved development & construction plans. This position works closely and coordinates routine maintenance activities with the department’s other Infrastructure Maintenance Managers. Reports to the Assistant Director, Augusta Engineering Department Maintenance or other designated person and work with co-workers, employees, private engineers, contractors, developers, surveyors, other City Departments, and the public.
- Manages, directs and supervises county-wide daily routine drainage & roadway infrastructure periodic proactive & reactive maintenance periodic activities & tasks completed by the Engineering Maintenance Division In-house workforce.
- Manages in-house services workflow, scheduling, routine drainage & roadway infrastructure maintenance activities quality assurance/quality control and compliance with applicable standards, policies. Conduct in-house work performance, work progress, and work safety periodic assessment and communicate findings with assigned in-house workforce by holding periodic workforce meetings.
- Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Engineering
- Maintenance division In-House workforce Role & Responsibilities; recommends within division policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommends and administers field infrastructure maintenance operations policies and procedures.
- Develops and standardizes procedures and methods to improve and continuously monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned programs/tasks, service delivery methods, and procedures; assesses and monitors workload, administrative, and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Participates in the selection of new employees, and motivates, trains, and evaluates assigned personnel; also works with employees to correct deficiencies. Recommends and implements field operations efficiency enhancement procedures. Receives, investigates, and responds to difficult and sensitive problems and complaints in a professional manner; identifies and reports findings and takes necessary corrective action.
- Conduct Toolbox Talk (daily work safety brief) to ensure work zone safety. Coordinate operations equipment maintenance and supplies. Implements preventative maintenance program for equipment assigned to the assigned In-house workforce; manages procurement of equipment, supplies, and materials within established thresholds; coordinate purchase requisitions; and makes recommendations for replacement of equipment outside established thresholds.
- Serve as technical resource to and train assigned In-house workforce. Responds to emergency situations after hours and on weekends.

POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Work with Fleet Maintenance Shops for maintenance of equipment/vehicles assigned to Engineering Maintenance Division.
- Work with Engineering Maintenance other managers for infrastructure & right of way maintenance workflow continuity and optimization.
- Provides leadership and oversight of the planning, development and implementation of operations within the Assigned Service Area.
- Plans, manages and oversees the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the assigned service area.
