Summary:
The Engineering Manager – ClearWellness serves as the engineering delivery leader for all ClearWellness technology initiatives. This role is responsible for coordinating software development efforts, managing sprint execution, prioritizing technical work, and ensuring successful delivery of solutions that support ClearWellness' mission of helping seniors age safely and independently.
The Engineering Manager provides day-to-day leadership for ClearWellness engineering activities while partnering closely with Product Management, Enterprise Architecture, Security, Compliance, Operations, and executive leadership. This role ensures engineering resources are focused on the highest-value business initiatives and that all solutions align with healthcare, security, and organizational requirements.
This role focuses on execution and team leadership rather than enterprise architecture ownership. The Engineering Manager collaborates with architecture teams to implement approved designs and standards while providing practical engineering input based on business and operational needs.
This role combines healthcare technology experience, HIPAA knowledge, Agile delivery leadership, cloud-native development expertise, AWS and DynamoDB experience, and a passion for building and mentoring engineering teams. Experience with AI technologies is a plus and provides a strong leadership development path toward future Engineering Director responsibilities.
What This Role Does:
Serves as the primary engineering lead for all ClearWellness technology initiatives.
Maintains disciplined portfolio management, ensuring teams execute only-on approved development initiatives and avoid unplanned or unauthorized work.
Serves as the connective tissue between technical stakeholders, enabling clear communication and effective handoffs without becoming a bottleneck.
Oversees offshore contractor relationships, including communication, expectation-setting, and delivery oversight.
Collaborates with Engineering leadership to oversee technical design, estimation, planning, testing, and release management processes.
Coordinates software development activities across internal engineering teams, contractors, and third-party vendors.
Evaluates technical efforts and recommends prioritization based on business impact, customer value, operational requirements, and regulatory needs.
Partners closely with Product Management, Operations, Customer Experience, Compliance, and executive stakeholders.
Collaborates with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Security, and Infrastructure teams, ensuring ClearWellness solutions align with approved architectural standards, security requirements, and technology roadmaps.
Maintains close partnership with DevOps, IT, and Systems Administration to ensure smooth deployments, monitoring, and lifecycle support.
Ensures all solutions comply with HIPAA, privacy, security, and healthcare data handling requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field required.
A minimum of seven (7) years of software engineering experience.
A minimum of three (3) years of technical leadership, engineering management, or team lead experience.
Experience working within healthcare, healthcare technology, digital health, wellness, telehealth, or other regulated industries.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, including mentoring others, leading initiatives or workstreams, contributing to best practices, and driving cross-functional outcomes.
Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and tactical operational levels. Works to achieve goals while overcoming obstacles and/or planning for contingencies.
Strong analytical, planning, and budgeting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality, results-driven, team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed and travel up to 10%, which may include occasional overnight travel.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and modern communication tools for virtual teams such as Microsoft Teams and Slack.

100% Remote with Travel: Work environment is primarily indoors (home office, customer or vendor sites, or other business meeting venues); travel may involve exposure to varying weather and temperature conditions, as well as driving and traffic hazards. Travel is required, approximately 10%, and may include overnight and out-of-state trips.
