Engineering Manager
ActiveCampaign is rebuilding how software gets built: our engineering teams are embedding agentic workflows into the core of the platform, and into the way we work. The Kraków Hub is part of that shift, with pods across Agency and partner solutions, integrations, connectors, and MCP (making the platform accessible to AI agents and external tools), top-of-funnel (forms, editors, landing pages), CRM, reporting, and mobile.
In our Agency area, agencies, partners, and franchise networks run many client accounts on ActiveCampaign, and they expect scale, reliability, and automation that works. We are building new Partner and Franchise experiences and continuing to develop the Agency product, and we see this as a strong proving ground for AI-first engineering.
We are looking for a builder-manager: an Engineering Manager who leads a team of highly skilled, autonomous engineers and still builds, using AI tooling and agentic workflows daily in code, design reviews, and delivery. You will demonstrate the new ways of working yourself and then scale them across the team. Your main responsibility is keeping the team efficient, well-prioritised, and focused on the right goals. We build teams that are inclusive, collaborative, and have a strong sense of ownership.
What your day could consist of:
-
Lead a team of experienced, self-directed engineers who like to ship code and solve hard problems, setting direction and removing obstacles rather than directing day-to-day work
-
Build with AI yourself: prototype features, write code, and automate team workflows using AI coding assistants and agents, and bring what you learn back to the team
-
Drive AI-first engineering: introduce agentic workflows across the delivery lifecycle, with clear guardrails for security, data handling, and review standards, and measure the effect on throughput and quality
-
Drive strict prioritisation and predictable delivery, keeping the team focused on high-impact outcomes
-
Contribute to architecture decisions and review designs and code, with attention to scalability and reliability for multi-account, high-volume usage
-
Maintain rigour in code quality, automated testing, observability, and security across legacy and modern services in the public cloud, deployed through CI/CD
-
Share knowledge through mentoring, code and design-doc reviews, technical talks, and timely feedback
-
Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, other Engineering Managers, and cross-functional teams
-
Partner with other teams to spread engineering productivity improvements, including reusable AI skills, prompts, and tooling
-
Work with the People Team to hire high-calibre, diverse talent
What we're looking for:
-
3+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience
-
Experience leading senior, autonomous engineers: setting clear outcomes, creating context, and coaching rather than controlling
-
Strong software engineering background, with experience building and deploying scalable cloud applications through CI/CD practices
-
Demonstrated hands-on use of AI coding tools and agentic workflows in real delivery work, and the ability to show what you have built or changed with them
-
Solid experience with SQL, NoSQL, and event streaming technologies
-
Proven ability to drive prioritisation, delivery cadence, and execution rigour
-
A quality-first mindset and experience solving difficult technical problems at scale
-
Strong communication skills and customer focus
-
English fluency (B2 minimum)
-
Willingness to work flexible hours with regular afternoon overlap with US Central time, including afternoon meetings
Nice to have:
-
Production experience in PHP, Python, or TypeScript/Node.js (Java also welcome), with willingness to ramp up quickly on our PHP codebase
-
Experience leading teams through AI/ML adoption or embedding agentic workflows into engineering practice, ideally with measurable results
-
Experience building LLM-powered features or internal AI tooling, including MCP or agent-facing integrations
-
Experience with organisational scaling: growing teams, establishing processes, navigating rapid change
-
Experience supporting multi-tenant or partner-facing platforms
-
Track record of cross-timezone collaboration in distributed engineering organisations
