Engineering Manager - Backend

You will manage a group of highly skilled senior engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and best practices. You will actively participate in the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of software projects, and take responsibility for resource planning, execution, and the quality of software delivered by your group. You will lead your team in building sophisticated products on a cutting-edge technology stack used by retail customers and internal business users. You will work closely with Product Management and other Engineering teams to drive execution of multiple business strategies and technologies. You will act as the point of contact for total cost of ownership, managing production defects and stability improvements to resolution, while ensuring operational efficiency and participating in organizational initiatives to maximize customer value. You will also tailor processes to manage time-sensitive issues to appropriate closure.

Responsibilities

• Tailor processes to manage time-sensitive issues and bring them to appropriate closure

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 8-10 years of experience
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Java programming and any of the Java frameworks, such as Spring or Spring Boot
• Must have done Performance Appraisal, Hiring and building teams from the ground up
• Experience of working in a highly dynamic Engineering environment like a start-up
• Deep understanding of Object-Oriented programming languages
• Strong technology acumen, knowledge of software engineering process, design knowledge and architecture intelligence
• Exposure to any of the prominent cloud service providers (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and quality, and the ability to work well in and across teams
• Ability to advocate & influence multiple stakeholders
• Experience and knowledge of delivering products with low/no-touch support, along with SRE principles
