Engineering Manager, Cloud Infrastructure
About the company
Our client is a software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead a small group of cloud engineers who install and operate a software platform within customer-owned cloud accounts. Blend hands-on technical guidance with people management, process design and customer communication as the group shifts from one-off efforts to a repeatable delivery approach.
What you'll do
- Manage and grow a small team of cloud engineers through coaching, career development and hiring.
- Make the key technical decisions and set direction for secure deployments in customer-controlled AWS and GCP accounts.
- Introduce light-touch structure such as written documentation, reusable runbooks and scalable processes so delivery no longer rests on any one person.
- Act as the main technical voice with customers during rollout and onboarding discussions, travelling only occasionally.
- Coordinate with engineering, research and product colleagues on schedules and scope for live customer projects.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 5 to 12 years of engineering experience, including prior ownership of deployments into customer-managed cloud environments.
- A background at high-growth technology, AI-native or biotech companies.
- Solid hands-on software engineering ability, leaning toward backend or fullstack work, with Python experience.
- Experience designing system architectures and APIs for scalable, production-grade services.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking, including VPCs, DNS, secrets handling and proxies.
- Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling and GitOps workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a STEM-related field.
