Engineering Manager ETO - MVA & MCC
Summary
Eaton is hiring an Engineering Manager in Pune to lead multi-disciplinary engineer-to-order teams designing medium-voltage switchgear assemblies and low-voltage motor control centers — from order configuration through drawings, BOMs, approvals, and manufacturing release — while driving design automation and digital-thread adoption using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Inventor, and ENOVIA/3DX.
What you’ll do:
Engineering Operations Leadership
• Lead a multi-disciplinary organization of engineers, designers, technical leads, and specialists supporting ETO, COE, COD, wiring diagrams, application engineering, and manufacturing support for MVA and LV MCC.
• Own engineering execution from customer specification and order configuration through drawings, bills of material, customer approval, manufacturing release, as-built updates, and engineering-change closure.
Product-Line and Technical Leadership
• Serve as the technical and organizational leader for Medium Voltage Assembly and Low Voltage Motor Control Center engineering; ensure leaders and teams understand product architecture, application boundaries, design rules, configuration logic, manufacturing constraints, and test requirements.
• For MVA, guide engineering for metal-clad and arc-resistant switchgear applications, including 5/15 kV, 27 kV, and 38 kV classes; indoor and outdoor lineups; main, feeder, tie, transition, auxiliary, metering, and protection sections; and IGX and other supported MVA/MVS configurations.
Engineering Systems, Digital Thread, and Continuous Improvement
• Lead adoption and governance of BidManager, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Inventor, ENOVIA/3DX, Design Automation, MAPICS/AS400, Product Order Management tools, and related engineering systems used by the product lines.
• Advance reusable product definitions, standardized 3D models, integrated engineering and manufacturing bills of material, configuration rules, automated drawing and wiring outputs, and a connected digital thread.
Business, Plant, and Cross-Functional Leadership
• Partner with global product engineering, Greenwood and Fayetteville plant engineering and operations, Sales, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, IT, and Customer Support to align priorities and execute customer orders.
• Translate business growth, product strategy, plant capacity, and customer requirements into engineering capability, staffing, training, succession, and investment plans.
Talent and Organizational Development
• Coach and develop engineering managers, team leaders, senior engineers, and technical specialists; build succession plans and clear technical and leadership career paths.
• Establish product-line competency matrices and structured development plans covering MVA and MCC fundamentals, ETO execution, tools, standards, manufacturing processes, and quality practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters in Electrical engineering or equivalent
- 15+ years of engineering experience in power distribution, switchgear, motor control, or related electromechanical products, with substantial experience in Engineer-to-Order, Customer Order Engineering, Customer Order Design, Application Engineering, or Requisition Engineering. Minimum 5 years of people-leadership experience leading multi-disciplinary electrical and mechanical engineering teams; experience leading leaders or multiple product-line teams is preferred.
Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of ETO order engineering, including specification review, configuration, feasibility assessment, drawings, bills of material, approvals, manufacturing release, change management, and plant support.
• Demonstrated product knowledge in both Medium Voltage Assembly and Low Voltage Motor Control Center engineering, or deep expertise in one product line with proven ability to build capability in the other.
• MVA knowledge: metal-clad and arc-resistant switchgear; 5/15 kV, 27 kV, and 38 kV classes; breakers, bus, grounding, CTs, VTs, CPTs, relays, metering, communication, interlocks, source-transfer and protection schemes, one-lines, three-lines, wiring diagrams, and indoor/outdoor applications.
• LV MCC knowledge: Freedom 2100, Freedom+, FlashGard, Freedom Fast and legacy/aftermarket configurations; starters, feeder units, breakers, contactors, fuses, overload devices, soft starters, VFDs, control power, pilot devices, PLC/communication interfaces, bus ratings, structures, wireways, interlocks, wiring, and thermal/enclosure requirements.
• Strong understanding of applicable ANSI, IEEE, UL, NEMA, NEC, NFPA, and IEC requirements, including product-specific test and arc-resistant requirements.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, panel and structure assembly, bus and wiring fabrication, inspection, testing, quality systems, engineering changes, and product lifecycle management.
• Experience with BidManager or comparable configuration tools; AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN; Inventor or comparable 3D CAD; ENOVIA/3DX or comparable PLM; Design Automation; and ERP/manufacturing-release systems.
• Proven ability to lead design automation, digital-thread, reusable product-definition, configuration-validation, workflow-optimization, and engineering-quality initiatives.
• Demonstrated application of Lean, DMAIC, Design for Six Sigma, Agile, and continuous-improvement methods; Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
• Ability to evaluate competitor offerings, market and customer trends, and technology developments relevant to medium-voltage assemblies and low-voltage motor control."
