Supported by seamless integrations and a rapidly evolving product, Disputifier is reshaping a mission-critical part of the e-commerce stack.

Joining us means becoming part of an ambitious, fast-moving team focused on transforming a critical but often overlooked part of the e-commerce ecosystem. If you're excited by impact, ownership, and building in a fast-paced environment, you'll feel right at home with us!

About the role

We’re looking for our first Engineering Manager, reporting directly to the CTO. You'd own a team of 6-8 mid-to-senior engineers. The team is a mix of in-house and nearshore and is fully distributed. This role is opening now to alleviate CTO bandwidth.

This is a management role: roughly 80% people and process, and we have low expectations around your direct code contribution. If you want to keep your hands in the code, we'll encourage it, but it isn't the job.

The work centres on migrating our product from a legacy PHP codebase to a modern Rails stack (Ruby 4, Rails 8). Exact team scope is still open and will flex toward your strengths and interests.

What you will do
  • Managing the team day-to-day (1:1s, coaching, growth, performance)

  • Adding rigor to project communication and project management

  • Technical contribution through code review, mentoring engineers on technical topics, architecture discussions, scoping projects and evaluating solutions

  • Occasional coding is welcome but is not a primary requirement

  • Driving hiring for your team

What We’re Looking For
  • 1+ years of direct people management experience.

  • Experience managing distributed team members.

  • Experience managing diverse teams.

  • Software engineering background before management (ideally 3+ years, Rails exp

  • preferred, but there’s some flexibility here)

  • Comfort with AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code). You should understand how

  • they work and be able to judge the output, but this is not a slop-factory. We expect

  • humans to be fully aware of the code they’re shipping and be accountable for it

Technology Stack
  • Back-end: Ruby on Rails

  • Database: Aurora MySQL

  • Platform: AWS

  • Front-end: Server-rendered HTML, light JavaScript

Role Details
  • $170k - $200k CAD

  • North American timezone. No core hours. Most team members are in the Eastern timezone.
