Engineering Operative

Welcome to The Eliott, Gibraltar’s finest hotel. We are now looking for an Engineering Operative who is

responsible for general maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep across guest suites, meeting spaces, the restaurant, bar, and common areas.

This role ensures all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard with minimal disruption to guests.

Key Responsiblities

  1. Maintenance Operations: Execute planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and tiling).

  2. Compliance & Safety: Oversee building-related safety concerns, carry out fire drills, and maintain strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols.

  3. Guest & Team Relations: Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests, providing high-quality customer service.

  4. Sustainability: Help identify energy management opportunities and educate team members on reducing energy waste.

  5. General Support: Complete daily/weekly/monthly checklists, assist with equipment supplies, and show flexibility to support other hotel departments during peak times.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous maintenance experience within the hospitality industry is highly desirable.

  • Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of maintenance, electrical work, and safe operation of hand and power tools. Trade qualifications are a plus.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and the ability to manage tasks flexibly.

  • Compliance Requirement: Must hold a valid Right to Work in Gibraltar at the time of application.
