The Engineering Production Technician role is a temporary contract position with an initial duration of six months. During this assignment, the employee will be eligible for company benefits. There may be an opportunity to extend or shorten the contract based on project needs and individual performance.
JOB SUMMARY: Perform highly technical mechanical and electromechanical assembly of low-volume, high-complexity products in support of engineering production. This role is responsible for precision assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, and validation of complex assemblies consisting of hundreds of components. Work closely with engineering and production leadership to ensure builds meet design intent, quality standards, and functional requirements, while providing feedback to improve manufacturability and repeatability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
- Perform precision mechanical and electromechanical assembly of complex systems and subassemblies
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, schematics, and detailed work instructions
- Execute system-level integration including alignment, fitting, fastening, and component installation
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical assembly issues and implement corrective actions
- Perform rework, repairs, and adjustments to meet engineering and quality requirements
- Conduct functional testing, validation, and verification of assembled products
- Support prototype builds and transition of designs into repeatable low-volume production
- Provide feedback to engineering regarding design issues, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturability improvements
- Perform basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, tapping, and minor machining as required
- Execute soldering and wiring tasks following proper workmanship and ESD-safe practices
- Maintain accurate build records, documentation, and quality traceability
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to assembly processes and documentation
- Support cross-functional teams as needed
- Performs other duties when required that are outside of normal job duties.
SUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED: This position is under the direct supervision of the Manager of Mechanical Engineering and the Engineering Production Team Lead. This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.
