Engineering Systems Analyst
Summary
Supports enterprise PLM and CAD platforms—primarily Siemens Teamcenter and Active Workspace—handling troubleshooting, user access and permissions, workflow configuration, CAD integrations (NX, CATIA, AutoCAD), root-cause analysis, end-user training, and documentation while partnering with engineering, manufacturing, IT, and business stakeholders.
Position Summary
The Engineering Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and CAD platforms, with a primary focus on Siemens Teamcenter, Active Workspace, CAD integrations, end-user support, troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement. This role partners with engineering, manufacturing, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance, effective change-process execution, and strong user adoption across engineering systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teamcenter Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide Teamcenter 4-Tier and Active Workspace operational support, resolving user access, authentication, role permission, ACL, data model, and client-side performance issues.
- Monitor system logs, trace files, database queries, syslogs, and error dumps to perform root-cause analysis on recurring incidents, system failures, and performance issues.
- Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot Teamcenter workflows
- Diagnose issues with Teamcenter Rich Client and Active Workspace clients.
- Support software deployments, routine system health checks, minor patches, enhancement fixes, upgrades, and migrations in partnership with engineering teams.
- Partner with infrastructure teams, support teams, and Siemens GTAC to escalate complex infrastructure or core software issues.
Stakeholder Engagement, Documentation, and Training
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into functional Teamcenter configurations.
- Create and update user guidelines and internal knowledge base articles.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams during system upgrades, patches, and integration testing.
- Train key business users on data governance, change-process execution, Teamcenter Visualization, and CAD visualization best practices.
- Deliver training for new hires in change management roles across engineering, cost estimating, sales, and plant engineering, including quarterly refresher courses through IAC University.
- Process, triage, and resolve help tickets for the Engineering Systems group.
CAD and Engineering Tool Support
- Support CAD and engineering tools including Siemens NX, CATIA V5/V6, AutoCAD, Teamcenter Data exchange, OEM Teamcenter or database environments.
- Troubleshoot CAD data saving, loading, check-in/check-out, structure management, geometry syncing, attribute mapping, and local client configuration issues.
- Ensure software installation, updates, and availability for design and engineering groups.
- Maintain CAD computer and laptop inventory.
- Apply working knowledge of CAD and Teamcenter integrations, Teamcenter Visualization, and OEM CAD environments including GM, Ford, Honda, and Nissan.
- Quickly learn and support additional CAD and engineering tools as business needs evolve.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise PLM environments, specifically Siemens Teamcenter.
- Strong understanding of Product Lifecycle Management methodologies and Engineering Change Management structures.
- Proficiency with Teamcenter configuration, data modeling, workflow designer, ACL rules, queries, reports, and organization management.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong cross-functional communication skills, and a customer-centric approach to internal IT support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD and ERP integrations, including Siemens NX and SAP.
- Experience supporting CAD tools such as CATIA V5/V6, NX, or related OEM Teamcenter environments.
- Experience developing training materials, user documentation, or internal knowledge base content.
