Kyocera has a temp-to-hire position for a Engineering Technician 1 at our San Diego, CA facility.

Candidates selected for hire will be hired through one of Kyocera’s approved staffing partners.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Engineering Technician will provide a variety of support to production, quality, and engineering teams. They will be responsible for the improvement and implementation of procedures throughout the plants and will be involved in technique cards, testing, implementation and scoping of projects. This position will assist with the setup of new production systems and may train machinists, operators and inspectors. The Engineering Technician must have strong trouble shooting skills and knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes and calibration tools.

REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED required. AA preferred
6+ months of related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment.
Ability to use basic measuring equipment including microscope, caliper, micrometer etc.
May require ability to use complex laboratory equipment i.e. SEM/EDS, Auger, TGA/DSC, Acoustic Imaging System and Dilatometer etc.
Ability to read, write and comprehend verbal as well as written instructions in English.
Skill in applying basic statistics

Basic computer skills: excel, outlook, spreadsheet
Skill in reading mechanical drawings
Willingness to wear finger cots, masks, and/or cleanroom apparel.
Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods on production floor
Ability to grab small parts or hand tools with hands.
Ability to lift and carry up to 35lbs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Documents, implements, update and maintains methods, operation sequence, and written work processes in the manufacture of final product.
2. Follows process and builds prototype level products to ensure customer quality and delivery requirements. May oversee the starting, running, and upgrading of manufacturing processes to maximize productivity without sacrificing quality requirements.
3. Creates work instructions and other associated process documentation following documented procedures.
4. Performs analytical and diagnostic engineering tests or DOE initiated by an engineer.
5. Visually inspects parts at required steps in the process with attention to detail, ensuring the parts are within specified tolerances. May disposition of reject parts.
6. Performs complex maintenance, set-up and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment. Responsibilities may include the programming or calibration of equipment.
7. May assist with managing onsite repairs or sub-contractors.
8. Analyzes problems and addresses RCCAAs using intuitive and analytical methods such as 8-D & 5 Why Analyses.
9. Takes ownership of small projects and managing of results with guidance from Engineering member or senior technician.
10. Works directly with, and occasionally trains manufacturing employees (operators, inspectors, and machinists) on the production floor.
11. May inspect or check work of lower level technicians and operators.
