Engineering Technician Manager

The Opportunity

The Engineering Technician Manager leads the Engineering Technician team resources, timelines, and deliverables while remaining hands-on in builds, troubleshooting, testing, and process improvement. The role supports client programs from R&D through NPI and small-scale production, coordinating Technician staffing, managing BOMs, building documentation, and providing DFM feedback to Engineering. The Engineering Technician Manager also serves as a day-to-day technical point of contact for clients and communicates project needs, risks, and status to internal teams and leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Balance hands-on IC work—including assembly, prototyping, troubleshooting, testing, and equipment operation—with team management and mentoring
  • Lead NPI from prototype through pilot and small-scale production, including build readiness, documentation, work instructions, DFM/DFA feedback, and production process improvements
  • Manage BOMs, build schedules, staffing, and resource allocation across technician teams
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, providing build status, technical updates, and production timelines
  • Drive quality, workmanship standards, documentation, non-conformance tracking, and continuous improvement
  • Support manufacturing execution, including jigs, fixtures, harnesses, tools, supplies, and production equipment
  • Develop and manage Engineering Technicians through project delegation, skills development, performance management, and hands-on technical mentorship


Qualifications You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience leading and developing a team of technicians in a safe, hands-on environment
  • Experience supporting NPI and transitioning products from prototype/R&D into pilot or low-volume production
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple concurrent client programs
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and focus on efficiency and process improvement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain process documentation
  • Working knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts and practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong fine-motor skills for hands-on technical work


What Makes You Stand Out

  • Manufacturing experience, particularly supporting the transition from NPI/pilot builds into sustained low-volume production
  • Hands-on experience with laser welding, laser cutting, or 3D printing equipment
  • Experience with battery pack manufacturing, including cell stack assembly
  • Familiarity with the battery industry
  • Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Electrical testing experience, including PCBA testing, power supplies, loads, and test setup
  • CAD, soldering, and creative problem-solving experience
  • Automotive or aerospace experience

The salary range represents the expected base salary for this role. The actual offer will be based on a variety of factors, including knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. In addition to base salary, full-time employees are eligible for equity/bonus programs and a comprehensive benefits package.
