ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL)
You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) in the Submarine Piping and Mechanical Waterfront Support Group (265W), Submarine Piping and Mechanical Branch (265), Fluid/Mechanical Engineering and Planning Division (260), Chief Engineer (240), Engineering and Planning Department (200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
You will be responsible for the conception, planning, monitoring and progressing of the engineering technician services.
You will develop and prepare complete work packages.
You will make necessary calculations and layouts for determining strength, flexibility, flow rates, pipe sizes, pressure losses etc.
You will investigate malfunctioning of systems or failure of components of systems and prepare reports including remedial action to prevent further occurrences.
You will prepare "farm-out" technical specification for piping design work to be performed by private agencies.
You will evaluate and apply the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods.
You will display judgement and mastery of concepts, principles and practices of Mechanical Engineering.
