Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Engineering Technician is to leverage technical expertise and hands-on engineering and manufacturing experience to support:

  1. Engineering product development (initial prototyping, design iterations and improvements, testing)
  2. Troubleshooting and solution implementation for Engineering projects
  3. Transition to Limited Rate Initial Production (LRIP) introduction (i.e. - establishment of initial work instructions)
  4. Product Sustainment (technical support)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, Test & Document electro-mechanical components and systems, including
    • Cable development and assembly (i.e. – signal, power, communications)
    • PCBA Soldering
    • Mechanical Assembly
    • Assist in maintaining accurate Bill of Materials and inventory management for Engineering
  • Build, test, and document production and test cables based on requirements defined by internal and external customers.
  • Technical support for engineering Prototype and LRIP Phases.
      • Troubleshoot mechanical and/or electrical issues during prototype and LRIP phases while working with Engineering to identify root cause and resolve issues.
      • Support engineering product verification testing.
    • Assist in the building of engineering assembly and test fixtures to release to Manufacturing.
    • Capture and formally document engineering changes during Engineering and LRIP builds in addition to sustaining project support.
    • Other duties assigned as workloads change within multiple departments.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma and 10+ years’ experience in a relevant technician role
  • Technician experience in an Engineering and/or Manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Strong working knowledge of test equipment usage (i.e. – DMM, Oscilloscope, Power Analyzer,…)
  • Self-starter with a drive for continual improvement
  • Professional written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Active participation in team meetings
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP
  • This position may be asked to drive for company purposes during the course of employment. If asked and agreed upon, employees must possess a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • May Participate in the identity verification process to access secure client or government portals by authorizing certified supplier or customer management platforms to obtain information from your personal credit profile or other information, solely to verify your identity.

Skill Requirements

  • Soldering (J-STD-001 for soldering workmanship preferred)
  • Working knowledge of connectors and connector pin-outs
  • Proficiency in cable assembly
  • Mechanical and electrical component familiarity
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Proficiency with hand tools, including connector pin crimping
  • Experience with machine tools, metal fabrication, welding
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Ability to create electrical models and schematics (Altium) preferred.
  • Ability to create mechanical models and drawings (SolidWorks) preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually.
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, or assemble/manufacture intricate items.
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials.
  • Sitting or standing for extended period of time.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height. Any items that weigh more than 50 pounds will require two or more people or a lifting device to move.
  • Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.

Pay/Salary Information

Pay scale for this position: $35.48-$45 hourly
