Ropsley Group | Doncaster | Full-Time | Permanent

40 hours per week | Office Based

Ropsley Group is looking for an experienced Engineering & Trades Recruiter to take ownership of recruitment across our group of engineering businesses.

We're looking for someone who already knows the skilled-trades recruitment market. You'll be recruiting for roles across engineering, manufacturing and site operations, building relationships with candidates and developing talent pipelines that we can call upon as our workforce requirements change.

This isn't a role where you'll simply be handed vacancies and asked to post adverts.

You'll work directly with our operational teams to understand upcoming labour requirements, identify where we're likely to have skills gaps and build candidate pipelines before those requirements become urgent.

You'll manage the recruitment process from sourcing and initial conversations through to selection and mobilisation, working alongside our HR team who will support the employment and onboarding process.

What You'll Be Recruiting

Our requirements vary depending on projects and workload, but you'll predominantly recruit skilled trades and operational engineering personnel, including roles such as:

  • Welders
  • Pipe Fitters
  • Platers
  • Mechanical Fitters
  • Fabricators
  • Site personnel
  • Supervisory and operational positions
  • Other skilled engineering and manufacturing roles

Requirements can range from individual permanent vacancies through to larger recruitment and mobilisation campaigns for projects and operational requirements.

The Role

You'll manage the full recruitment lifecycle across the Group, including:

  • Managing multiple skilled-trade and engineering vacancies.
  • Proactively sourcing candidates rather than relying solely on applications.
  • Using job boards, LinkedIn, social media, referrals and existing talent pools to identify candidates.
  • Screening and interviewing candidates to understand their experience, qualifications and availability.
  • Coordinating interviews, trade tests and selection activities.
  • Building and maintaining strong pipelines across our critical and hard-to-fill trades.
  • Developing relationships with candidates and maintaining contact with people we may need for future projects.
  • Working directly with operational managers to understand current and upcoming workforce requirements.
  • Attending resource-planning meetings and providing recruitment updates.
  • Supporting recruitment and mobilisation for new projects, shutdowns and contract awards.
  • Checking qualifications, competency cards and recruitment compliance documentation.
  • Working closely with HR to coordinate offers, contracts, onboarding and mobilisation.
  • Maintaining accurate recruitment records and candidate information.
  • Monitoring recruitment activity, vacancies, time-to-fill and candidate pipelines.
  • Developing relationships with colleges, training providers and relevant industry contacts.
  • Attending recruitment events and job fairs where beneficial.

Who We're Looking For

We're specifically looking for someone with previous experience recruiting within the engineering, skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, industrial or site-based market.

You might currently be working as an Engineering Recruiter, Recruitment Consultant, Trades & Labour Recruiter, Skilled Trades Recruiter, Industrial Recruiter or Recruitment Specialist.

Agency recruiters looking to move into an internal position are also welcome to apply.

You'll need to be comfortable managing multiple requirements at once and speaking with everyone from candidates and tradespeople through to Project Managers, Directors and HR.

Most importantly, you'll need to be proactive.

Some of the people we need won't be actively applying for jobs, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable sourcing, networking, approaching candidates and building relationships rather than waiting for applications to arrive.

Essential Experience

You should have:

  • Previous recruitment experience within engineering, skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, industrial or a similar market.
  • Experience managing multiple vacancies or running a recruitment desk.
  • Strong candidate sourcing and headhunting skills.
  • Experience screening and interviewing candidates.
  • Confidence communicating directly with operational and hiring managers.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Experience using job boards, LinkedIn and candidate databases/ATS platforms.
  • Good attention to detail and understanding of recruitment compliance.

Knowledge of trade qualifications, competency cards, project mobilisation and workforce planning would be particularly advantageous.

Benefits

As part of the role, you will receive:

  • 7.5% employer pension contribution
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 1 additional day of birthday leave
  • Private healthcare
  • Medicash healthcare benefits
  • Career progression and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to take ownership of recruitment across a diverse group of engineering businesses

Why Join Ropsley Group?

This is an opportunity to move beyond filling individual vacancies and become involved in the wider workforce planning and recruitment strategy across a group of engineering businesses.

You'll have the opportunity to build talent pipelines, develop our approach to skilled-trades recruitment and work directly with operational teams to ensure we have the people required to support existing operations and future growth.

For someone coming from an agency environment, it also offers the opportunity to use your recruitment experience in-house, build longer-term relationships with the people you recruit and see the impact of your work beyond the placement.

Location: Doncaster
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Working arrangement: Full-time, office based
