Position Title: Long-Term Guest English Teacher (English I & English III)

Employer: Leyden High School District 212

Location: East or West Leyden

Term: Entirety of 2nd Semester (2026/2027 School Year)

Daily Rate: $345.00 per day

Schedule: 7:25 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. (Occasional extension to 3:25 p.m.)

Reports To: Department Chairperson and Building Principal

Position Overview

Leyden High School District 212 is seeking a qualified Long-Term Guest English Teacher for the full 2nd semester of the 2026/2027 school year. This position involves teaching English I and English III courses.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess standards-aligned instruction for English I and English III courses.
• Integrate technology effectively into instruction utilizing a district-provided loaner laptop.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.
• Submit report card grades and monitor athletic eligibility.
• Contact parents/guardians regarding student progress as needed.
• Attend contractual evening events, including Open House and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
• Collaborate closely with the Department Chairperson, grade-level colleagues, and instructional coaches on curriculum and instruction.
• Follow the assigned schedule, including school-wide service and Eagle time.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent with appropriate endorsement for High School English.
• Proficient in subject matter and instructional pedagogy.
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build professional, supportive relationships with students, staff, and families.
