English Teacher (Part-time)

About the role
We are looking for a committed English teacher to teach English and Business English modules and to support the Academic Department in keeping teaching quality high. Candidates with experience in academic coordination will have the chance to take on more responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Teach the English modules assigned to you, using approved lesson plans, and prepare and mark assessments
• Research, evaluate and bring in teaching strategies and materials, so that content, delivery and assessment meet academic quality standards and keep improving
• Run and mark English Placement Tests, and support student admissions and outreach activities
• Help the Academic Manager with academic matters, such as following up with students, giving input to surveys and reports, and taking minutes at meetings
• Share materials and good practice with other English teachers, and help moderate marking
• Mentor students, give pastoral care, and support students in meeting the academic standards of the College and its partners

Requirements

• Degree in English, Linguistics, Education or a related field (Master's an advantage)
• English teaching qualification, such as CELTA, TESOL or a PGDE (English), preferred
• At least 3 years of experience teaching English to adults or tertiary students
• Experience with curriculum or materials development, or with mentoring or coordinating other teachers, is a plus
• Familiarity with placement testing and frameworks such as IELTS or CEFR
• High level of discretion and integrity in handling confidential matters
• Strong communication skills, and comfortable working with students from diverse backgrounds
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and online platforms (Teams & Zoom)
• Meets Skills & Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) requirements for deployed teachers
• An understanding of music and the arts is beneficial, but not required
