Verizon Global Infrastructure (VGI) is looking for an innovative Security Data Automation Engineer to bridge the gap between traditional data analytics and modern DevOps practices. Beyond building dashboards, you will architect resilient "security-by-design" pipelines that drive our threat detection and response. You will develop high-performance, sophisticated Python models to harden the GTS ecosystem, ensuring the entire data life cycle—from ingestion to deployment—is fully protected and automated.
What we’re looking for…
- Supporting daily operations, including internal/external stakeholder engagement and dotted-line leadership
- Developing and maintaining Network & Infrastructure Security reporting dashboards, scorecards
- Automating Network Platform integration with logging tools & systems
- Maintaining the automation platforms supporting VGS Enterprise Network, On-Prem Infrastructure, Datacenters and Cloud organizations in their Cyber practice
- Performing automation and orchestration of all security tools for visibility and prevention.
- Driving a culture of Security by Design and automation to scale cyber security practices
- Identifying opportunities and use cases for automation to remediate vulnerabilities, implement controls, orchestrate between tools and automate security practices
- Ensuring effectiveness and coverage of security, policies and controls of VGS Network & Infrastructure, prioritizing risk level
- Leveraging industry proven tools to identify and reduce Cyber Risks
- Ensuring security posture of VGS Network & Infrastructure, e.g., access management, vulnerabilities remediation, etc
- Assisting in Crisis Management, Ransomware Recovery and Business Continuity planning
- Promoting an environment of collaboration and individual accountability when it comes to problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvements
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
- Two or more years experience with scripting and programming (i.e. Python or Powershell) for automation of bulk configuration changes, data parsing, API interactions, and custom tool development.
- Two or more years experience with Devops, CI/CD and tools like Git, Jenkins, Docker, Netmiko etc
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Experience with Python and writing clean, modular, and testable production-grade code.
- Deep experience with Ansible for automating repetitive tasks, managing server configurations, and deploying applications.
- Strong command of SQL and experience working with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
- Comfort working in a Linux environment, including shell scripting (Bash).
- Advanced knowledge of Git workflows and collaborative development.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect is a significant plus.
- Experience providing support for security related technologies (i.e. SIEM, Antivirus, Firewalls, WAF, Proxy, IDS/IPS, DLP).
- Knowledge of security incident log analysis, malware analysis & cyber security incident response.
- Certifications like: Network+, Security+, GSEC, CCNA, CSPM, CISSP or CISM
