Enterprise Architect
ABOUT THE ROLE
At playSTUDIOS, we create engaging and innovative gaming experiences that captivate millions of players worldwide. Our focus is on combining creativity, technology, and data-driven insights to craft exceptional games. We are looking for an Enterprise Architect to join our Architecture team.
This is a cross-cutting role. You'll work alongside the EA team and CTO to shape technology strategy across all playSTUDIOS products and platforms - defining the standards, patterns, and architectural direction that individual games and shared services build against. Your scope is the enterprise landscape rather than any single system, and you'll be measured on whether independent initiatives come together into something coherent, scalable, and cost-efficient. The Architecture function is small and highly visible, and you'll engage directly with business and product owners, R&D leadership, game teams, and cross-org teams (DevOps, Data, IT, Security).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and execute a company-wide architecture strategy together with the EA team and CTO, prioritized by ROI and urgency
Architect cross-team and cross-project solutions, and drive resolution of architectural problems that span organizational boundaries
Align teams across all playSTUDIOS products toward a shared technical vision
Define and maintain architectural standards, policies, and patterns for engineering teams
Design and manage architectural runways spanning multiple development teams
Rationalize the company's technical systems and solutions — reduce duplication, manage complexity, and drive down technical debt
Own build-versus-buy evaluations and recommendations
Evaluate business initiatives, internal functions, and technical processes, and identify improvements — including cost reduction across infrastructure and cloud
Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, observable, secure, and supportive of business goals
Lead architecture reviews and maintain architectural decision records and solution intents
Advise on business process analysis and service delivery with respect to technology direction
Grow architectural capability across engineering through guidance, mentorship, and training
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have:
10+ years in engineering, including leadership and architecture roles
4+ years as a System Architect (Enterprise Architect a plus)
High level of proficiency in both written and spoken English
Strong background in system architecture and end-to-end design
Hands-on development background with large-scale production systems
Highly proficient with AI tools in day-to-day work
Independent and proactive - an initiator
Capable of high-level decision-making and prioritization
Strong communicator - can explain complex architectural concepts clearly to both engineers and non-engineering leadership
Able to align architecture with business goals across teams
Able to self-learn and research complex topics
Stays at the forefront of technology - tracks where the field is moving and forms their own view
Mentorship ability
Nice to have:
Prior Enterprise Architecture experience
Experience or familiarity with the world of mobile gaming
Well-versed in Security Architecture
Well-versed in the DevOps discipline and cloud providers such as AWS/Azure
Data Engineering fluency
Additional Notes: You may be expected to complete a test as part of the interviewing procedure.
