Entry Level Civil Construction Laborer

We are seeking hardworking and dependable Civil Construction Laborers to join our field crews. Previous construction experience is not required.

This position provides an opportunity to learn a skilled trade and build a career in the civil construction industry. Employees who demonstrate strong attendance, safety awareness, initiative, and a willingness to learn may have opportunities to advance into positions such as:

Skilled Laborer • Pipelayer • Heavy Equipment Operator • Carpenter • Foreman • Other Civil Construction Positions

We are looking for individuals who may not have construction experience yet but are reliable, motivated, willing to work, and interested in learning a trade.

Laborers will assist crews with general construction activities on civil, underground utility, earthwork, grading, drainage, and site development projects. Training will be provided on the job.

• Perform general labor duties on active civil construction sites.
• Assist skilled laborers, operators, pipelayers, foremen, and superintendents with daily construction activities.
• Assist with digging, shoveling, raking, backfilling, grading, and site cleanup.
• Move, load, unload, and organize construction materials, tools, and supplies.
• Assist crews with underground utility and pipe installation activities.
• Provide assistance to equipment operators and other crew members as directed.
• Learn the proper use of construction hand tools and equipment.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Follow instructions provided by foremen, superintendents, and other field leadership.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, or concerns to supervision.
• Perform additional general construction duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Functions

• Ability to travel to and access active construction sites.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while inspecting project sites.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and navigate scaffolding or uneven terrain when necessary.
• Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, or reach while reviewing work areas or site conditions.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, during site visits.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and protective footwear while on construction sites.
• Ability to safely navigate active construction environments that may include noise, dust, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry materials, documents, or equipment up to 50 pounds.
