Job Description

Remote applicants must reside in Minnesota to be considered.

Are you looking for an entry-level job in insurance that doesn’t require a license, pays well, and lets you set your own hours?

If so, keep reading.

The William Tuttle Agency is a Farmers Insurance Premier Agency with offices in Owatonna and Mankato, MN. We’re growing fast, and we’re hiring Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) to join our team, in office or remote.

This entry-level position is built for someone who wants a real way into the insurance industry without a license, a degree, or prior experience. If you’re motivated, coachable, and want to build professional sales skills, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Why Join the William Tuttle Agency?

We’re ranked #1 in Minnesota for new business production, and we were the first agency in the southern Minnesota district to break $100,000 in production in a single month. Our secret is simple: we hire great people and train them hard. Every morning, before the phones turn on, our whole team spends time on personal development together. We believe that if you’re growing as a person, you’re growing as a professional.

What Makes Us Unique?

1) A Real Career Path. You don’t need a license to start here. You begin as an SDR, learn the insurance business on the job, and earn from day one. Hit your 90-day scorecard (we show you the exact numbers on day one) and we pay 100% of your licensing costs and study materials, then move you into a licensed Sales Producer role with uncapped commission. Our producers earn $45,000 to $62,000 in their first year. From there, our best people move into Senior Producer, agency leadership, or agency ownership through the Farmers Protégé Program.

2) Flexible Hours, In Office or Remote. Work from our Owatonna or Mankato office, or work from home anywhere in Minnesota. Pick your shifts inside our 8 AM–8 PM window, Monday through Friday. Part-time (20 hours) or full-time (40 hours). Students, parents, and people working around another job are welcome. Evening shifts are available.

3) Competitive Compensation. We believe in rewarding people who do the work. Our compensation plan includes an $18 per hour base ($3,120 a month full-time, $37,440 a year) plus bonuses for every appointment you set that gets quoted and every policy sold from your appointments. Full-time SDRs who follow our process earn $50,000+ in their first year.

4) World-Class Training. You’ll be trained on the One-Call Close system from Insurance Sales Lab, the same system our top producers use. You’ll work from proven scripts on a power dialer, your calls are recorded and scored, and you get coaching on real calls every week. You’ll never be guessing what to say next.

5) A Winning Culture. Competitive, supportive, and fast-paced. Your results are on the board every day, we celebrate wins as a team, and we promote from within.

Prove yourself as an SDR and you’ll have the opportunity to grow into a licensed Sales Producer with real earning potential and a long-term career in insurance.

No insurance experience is necessary. No license is required. We’ll teach you everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do I need an insurance license?

No. You do not need a license to do this job. You’ll be setting appointments and connecting people with our licensed agents, who handle the quotes. When you’re ready, we pay for your license.

2) Do I need prior insurance or sales experience?

No. Most of our best people came from restaurants, retail, customer service, or school. If you can talk to strangers and show up every day, we can teach you the rest.

3) What kind of training will I receive?

Paid training from day one. You’ll learn our products, our scripts, and the One-Call Close phone system from Insurance Sales Lab. Your calls are recorded and scored, and you get weekly coaching on real calls so you improve fast.

4) Is this cold calling?

No. Everyone you call has requested an insurance quote online or by phone. The agency provides all the leads. You never buy your own leads or call friends and family.

5) Can I really work remote?

Yes. You need a quiet workspace, a computer, and reliable internet. We provide the dialer, the CRM, and the scripts. Remote SDRs must live in Minnesota. You’ll have a daily video huddle with the team and the same coaching as our in-office SDRs.

6) How flexible are the hours?

You pick your shifts inside our 8 AM–8 PM window, Monday through Friday, minimum 20 hours a week. Evening shifts are available and encouraged. No weekends.

7) How do I get licensed and promoted?

Hit your 90-day scorecard (dials, contacts, transfers, quoted, sold) and we pay 100% of your P&C licensing costs and study materials, then move you into a licensed Sales Producer role with uncapped commission.

8) What is the culture like?

Competitive and supportive. We expect a lot from ourselves and each other, your results are on the board every day, and we celebrate wins as a team. Every morning starts with team development before the phones turn on.

What We’re Looking For:

Comfortable on the phone and not rattled by “no”

Coachable: you want feedback and use it on the next call

Reliable: you show up for the shifts you pick

Competitive: you want your name at the top of the board

Basic computer skills (we train you on our CRM and dialer)

Must reside in Minnesota (remote) or be able to work from our Owatonna or Mankato office

Authorized to work in the U.S.
