Summary/Objective:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern / Co-Op will support RGL’s environmental, health, and safety programs through participation in proactive safety initiatives, hazard assessments, regulatory compliance activities, incident investigations, safety training, audits, and continuous improvement projects. The goal of RGL is to provide interns with real-world experience and meaningful work that contributes to a safer workplace while developing professional skills in environmental, health, and safety management. The EHS Intern / Co-Op will have opportunities to participate in proactive safety initiatives and lead projects that support organizational safety objectives.

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern / Co-Op will support RGL’s environmental, health, and safety programs through participation in proactive safety initiatives, hazard assessments, regulatory compliance activities, incident investigations, safety training, audits, and continuous improvement projects. The EHS Intern / Co-Op will have opportunities to participate in proactive safety initiatives and lead projects that support organizational safety objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Assist the Operations Team with incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and post-incident follow-up activities.
- Conduct safety conversations, observations, and workplace assessments to identify hazards and injury prevention opportunities.
- Work with Operations Team members to conduct job hazard assessments (JHAs), risk assessments, and hazard evaluations.
- Participate in proactive safety initiatives focused on hazard identification, risk reduction, teammate engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Complete safety-related audits, including facility inspections, first aid kit audits, emergency preparedness reviews, safety documentation reviews, and regulatory compliance assessments.
- Support Safety Engagement Team initiatives and assist with follow-up on safety improvement actions.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of safe work procedures, training materials, emergency response resources, and safety communications.
- Research, develop, and deliver safety topics and training content.
- Assist with maintaining OSHA logs, safety training records, inspection records, and other EHS documentation.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments for office and warehouse teammates.
- Assist with compiling, analyzing, and reporting safety statistics, metrics, and performance trends.
- Assist with workers’ compensation and stay-at-work programs.
- Lead or support a special project focused on improving workplace safety, compliance, emergency preparedness, teammate engagement, or operational risk reduction. Present project findings and recommendations to the Senior Team upon project completion.

Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety or a related field. Junior or Senior standing preferred.
- Previous safety, warehouse, manufacturing, training, quality, or leadership experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential information. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various RGL locations as needed.
