Position Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a drug and alcohol treatment facility. This role supports infection control, client safety, and overall facility operations in a setting serving individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, offices, bathrooms, and clinical spaces
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with infection control standards
- Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, group rooms, and treatment spaces
- Follow established protocols for handling biohazard materials and bodily fluids
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and Vermont health and safety guidelines
- Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Support infection prevention practices critical in healthcare environments
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA when working around client information
Waste Management
- Collect, transport, and dispose of regular, recyclable, and medical waste
- Handle hazardous waste in accordance with facility policies
Facility Support
- Restock supplies (paper goods, soap, PPE, etc.) throughout the facility
- Report maintenance or safety issues (e.g., spills, hazards, damaged equipment)
- Assist with room turnovers and preparation for new admissions
Team Collaboration
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to minimize disruption to patient care
- Support overall facility operations and special cleaning needs as required
