Position Summary

The Environmental Services (EVS) Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a drug and alcohol treatment facility. This role supports infection control, client safety, and overall facility operations in a setting serving individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.


Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, offices, bathrooms, and clinical spaces
  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with infection control standards
  • Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, group rooms, and treatment spaces
  • Follow established protocols for handling biohazard materials and bodily fluids

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and Vermont health and safety guidelines
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Support infection prevention practices critical in healthcare environments
  • Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA when working around client information

Waste Management

  • Collect, transport, and dispose of regular, recyclable, and medical waste
  • Handle hazardous waste in accordance with facility policies

Facility Support

  • Restock supplies (paper goods, soap, PPE, etc.) throughout the facility
  • Report maintenance or safety issues (e.g., spills, hazards, damaged equipment)
  • Assist with room turnovers and preparation for new admissions

Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to minimize disruption to patient care
  • Support overall facility operations and special cleaning needs as required
