Our Calibration Department is currently seeking a passionate, enthusiastic Environmental Systems Calibration & Service Technician to be based at the Newport News, VA location. The Calibration Department specializes in precision calibration measuring equipment of various types.
Position Summary
The Environmental Systems Calibration & Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and qualification support of environmental chambers, refrigerators, freezers, freeze dryers, incubators, and other controlled-temperature and environmental equipment utilized in pharmaceutical, life science, manufacturing, healthcare, and industrial facilities. This position will support customer sites throughout the Newport News and greater Tidewater region while ensuring all work is completed in accordance with ATS quality standards, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, customer procedures, and applicable industry regulations.
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of temperature, humidity, pressure, and environmental control systems and be capable of performing both field and laboratory-based service activities.
Responsibilities
· Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair services on environmental chambers, refrigerators, freezers, freeze dryers, incubators, ovens, and related equipment.
· Conduct temperature mapping, qualification, and validation activities in accordance with customer protocols and industry standards.
· Calibrate and verify sensors, transmitters, controllers, data loggers, chart recorders, and environmental monitoring instrumentation.
· Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system issues using established troubleshooting methods and OEM documentation.
· Perform replacement of components including sensors, relays, contactors, heaters, humidification systems, compressors, fans, and control devices.
· Generate accurate calibration certificates, service reports, maintenance records, and qualification documentation.
· Ensure all measurement data, service activities, and repairs comply with ATS quality requirements and applicable accreditation standards.
· Review instrument histories and recommend repairs, upgrades, replacement equipment, and PM schedules.
· Manage assigned tools, calibration standards, service inventory, and company equipment.
· Coordinate service schedules and communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment status, findings, and recommendations.
· Support commissioning, installation, startup, and operational qualification projects as required.
· Follow all safety procedures and customer site requirements while maintaining a professional customer-focused demeanor.
· Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians when required.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
