EPC Engineering Design Manager
- Team & Resource Management
- Manage a cross-functional design team covering process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, telecom, structural and marine disciplines. Allocate manpower, set workload priorities and conduct performance reviews.
- Coordinate with sub-contract design institutes, third-party design vendors and global engineering branches to align resource deployment.
- Offshore EPC Design Delivery Control
- Supervise FEED, conceptual design, detailed engineering, 3D modelling, drawing issuance, material take-off (MTO) and technical specification compilation for offshore facilities.
- Monitor design milestone progress, identify schedule delays and propose corrective actions to meet project EPC timelines.
- Review key design deliverables including PFD, P&ID, general arrangement drawings, structural calculation reports and equipment datasheets.
- Client & Stakeholder Technical Interface
- Act as primary engineering representative for client technical meetings, design reviews, technical query responses and approval submissions.
- Align all design outputs with client requirements, international codes (API, DNV, ABS, ISO) and local statutory offshore regulations.
- Resolve cross-party technical discrepancies between client, construction, procurement and installation teams.
- Technical Risk & Cost Control
- Identify design technical risks at early stage, organize hazard identification workshops and implement mitigation solutions to avoid rework during fabrication and offshore installation.
- Optimize design scheme to cut material, fabrication and installation costs without compromising safety and technical compliance.
- Lead technical evaluation of vendor equipment proposals and participate in technical bid assessment for long lead items.
- Quality & Standardization Management
- Establish and enforce internal engineering design standards, drawing control procedures and document management workflows.
- Conduct regular design quality audits to eliminate errors, omissions and non-compliance issues.
- Manage design change control process (ECN/ECR), track impact on cost, schedule and construction.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical, Chemical, Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering or related engineering disciplines. Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Experience
- Minimum 10 years offshore oil & gas EPC engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering team management role.
- Proven track record delivering complete FEED and detailed design for FPSO, fixed offshore platforms or subsea EPC projects.
- Familiar with full EPC workflow: design → procurement → fabrication → integration → offshore commissioning.
- Technical Competency
- In-depth knowledge of international offshore industry codes: API, DNV GL, ABS, ISO, NORSOK etc.
- Proficient with mainstream design software: AutoCAD, PDMS/E3D, CAESAR II, HYSYS, structural finite element analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of multi-discipline interface logic for offshore integrated facilities.
- Soft Skills & Language
- Fluent written and spoken English for daily client communication, technical reports and cross-regional team coordination.
- Excellent leadership, cross-department coordination, problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Able to work under tight project deadlines and handle multi-project parallel management.
