Description

About the role

Great Britain's electricity network is undergoing one of the most significant transformations in its history. As we accelerate the transition to a cleaner, greener future, National Grid is investing in critical infrastructure that will help deliver secure, reliable, and sustainable energy for generations to come. We're looking for two EPC Project Managers to join our North West team, leading the governance, delivery, and performance of critical infrastructure projects across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and the wider North West region.

Current projects include major substation upgrades and extensions, playing a vital role in strengthening the UK's electricity transmission network and enabling the transition to Net Zero.

You'll manage EPC projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring they're delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with governance requirements. Working with contractors, stakeholders and internal teams, you'll lead project governance, manage risks and change control, and drive successful project outcomes.

This is a hybrid role with regular travel across the North West, including sites around Middleton, Manchester and Merseyside, so you’ll need to live within commuting distance of this region.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing EPC infrastructure projects from development through to delivery and close-out.
  • Leading project governance activities, including business cases, sanction papers and approvals.
  • Managing programme performance, budgets, risks and forecasting.
  • Driving compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Supporting NEC contract management and contractor performance.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, regulators and supply chain partners.

What you'll need

We're looking for experienced project professionals who are motivated by delivering critical infrastructure and thrive in complex, fast-paced environments. To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience delivering construction, engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong project governance and project controls experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively across multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience managing risk, change, cost and programme performance.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts or regulated industries is advantageous.
  • A passion for delivering infrastructure that supports Net Zero.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to travel regularly across the North West region.
  • Ideally based within reasonable commuting distance of the project portfolio.

If you're looking for an opportunity to lead nationally significant projects, work at the forefront of the UK's energy transition, and make a lasting impact on the future of the network, we'd love to hear from you.

What's in it for you?

  • Salary of £56,500 - £68,000 dependent on experience and capability, plus Market supplement of £4,500 per annum
  • Annual Performance Based Bonus
  • Job-Requirement Company Car
  • 26 days annual leave, plus eight statutory days
  • The option to buy additional or sell holiday days
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%
  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave – so long as it’s relevant to your role
  • Access to several flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
