Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Beaker Analyst (CP/AP) to build, configure, maintain, and optimize Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) and Anatomic Pathology (AP) applications in support of clinical laboratory workflows.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of laboratory operations, Epic Beaker configuration, system integrations, and healthcare regulatory requirements. This position has a particular focus on Beaker AP, while requiring the ability to work across CP, AP, rules, and instrument configuration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, maintain, and optimize Epic Beaker CP and AP to support laboratory workflows.
  • Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory technologists, clinicians, and IT teams to gather requirements and improve system functionality.
  • Configure and support integrations between Beaker, laboratory instruments, middleware, and other Epic applications.
  • Troubleshoot application, workflow, interface, and configuration issues and provide timely resolution.
  • Perform system maintenance, testing, upgrades, and optimization activities.
  • Provide end-user support and assist clinical and IT staff with system-related issues.
  • Participate in Epic implementations, upgrades, testing, validation, and go-live activities.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, workflow specifications, procedures, and training materials.
  • Ensure laboratory workflows and system configurations align with applicable regulatory and compliance standards, including CAP, CLIA, and HIPAA.
  • Partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to deliver Epic initiatives on schedule and within scope.
  • Support configuration and troubleshooting across CP, AP, rules, and instrument interfaces/configuration.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Alternatively, an undergraduate degree with 2+ years of experience supporting Epic or other LIS systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Epic Beaker Certification in both Clinical Pathology (CP) and Anatomic Pathology (AP).
  • Strong understanding of clinical laboratory workflows and healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, technical, and project management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Epic Beaker AP; this position has a primary focus on Anatomic Pathology.
  • Experience with laboratory instrument and middleware integrations, including:
    • Safetrace
    • Data Innovations
    • RALS
    • i-STAT
  • Comfortable working with Beaker CP, Beaker AP, Rules, and Instrument Configuration.
  • Clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CA CLS) is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience participating in Epic implementations, upgrades, optimization, or go-live projects.
  • Additional Epic certifications such as Bridges, Orders, Ambulatory, or Inpatient are a plus.
