Epic HIM/Coding Application Analyst, RevCycle Clinical Applications, Baptist Health Digital Solutions Center
The Epic HIM/Hospital Coding Application Analyst acts as a vital link between Health Information Management, Hospital Coding, Revenue Cycle operations, and information technology, ensuring that Epic HIM and Hospital Coding functionality operates effectively across the organization. This role requires an understanding of healthcare processes, medical record workflows, coding operations, and technical systems. Analysts translate operational and regulatory requirements into system functionality to maintain system integrity, promote automation and efficiency, support compliant coding practices, and improve the end user experience.
A significant portion of an analyst’s day is devoted to resolving break fix issues, performing routine system maintenance, and supporting HIM and Hospital Coding workflows. These activities include troubleshooting application issues, applying Epic quarterly updates, working with Epic technical support, testing system changes, and validating workflows to prevent disruptions to coding, health information management, and downstream revenue cycle processes. Analysts also support workflows and integrations that complement HIM and Coding operations. Much of the coordination and follow up for these responsibilities is conducted through structured communication channels, including email, Teams chat, and scheduled meetings.
Epic HIM/Hospital Coding Application Analysts also spend significant time collaborating with cross functional teams. Their day may begin with a team huddle, weekly group meeting, or a smaller session focused specifically on HIM and Hospital Coding workflows with their team lead. Throughout the day, analysts participate in meetings with HIM, Hospital Coding, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, Clinical, and operational leaders to clarify requirements, identify workflow opportunities, and understand pain points from the end user perspective.
