Equipment Operator II - 2026

Summary Operates heavy equipment and trucks to tow equipment, safely and efficiently. Loads and unloads heavy equipment. Requires knowledge of standard practices, methods, and materials used in street construction and maintenance activities. Requires knowledge of drainage and maintenance of proper grades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operates a backhoe/loader, front end loader, heavy roller.

Builds forms for curbs, road culverts, gutters and sidewalks, retaining walls, storm sewers and concrete paving.

Operates a motor truck to sand icy roadways, plow snowy roadways

Services and makes skilled repairs to equipment

Pours concrete and fills pavement cracks with asphalt

May also be assigned to semi-skilled or unskilled work, operating generator powered equipment, tractors, and pneumatic equipment
