Equity Trader/Portfolio Manager (US Equities & Options)

About the Role

We are assisting a Singapore-based Single Family Office seeking an experienced Equity Trader to manage and execute investment strategies focused primarily on the US equity market. This is a hands-on role within a lean investment team, where the successful candidate will have significant ownership over idea generation, portfolio construction, trade execution, and risk management.

The investment approach is fundamentally driven, with a long-only bias, complemented by the prudent use of listed options to enhance returns, manage risk, and improve portfolio efficiency.

The objective is to generate consistent long-term annual returns in the region of 18–20%, while maintaining disciplined risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and execute a long-only US equities portfolio.

• Develop and implement investment ideas based on fundamental, macroeconomic, and technical analysis

• Monitor market developments, earnings releases, macroeconomic events, and sector trends.

• Conduct company research, financial modelling, valuation analysis, and investment due diligence.

• Execute trades efficiently while maintaining best execution practices.

• Manage portfolio risk, including position sizing, exposure limits, liquidity, and drawdown management.

• Present investment recommendations and portfolio updates to the investment principal.

• Maintain detailed records of investment rationale, trade execution, and portfolio performance.

• Work closely with external brokers, custodians, and service providers where required.

• Contribute to the ongoing refinement of the investment process and portfolio strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience managing or trading US equities.

• Proven experience in listed equity options strategies.

• Strong understanding of:

o US equity markets

o Options pricing and risk

o Portfolio construction

o Risk management

• Experience with long-only investment strategies.

• Demonstrated investment track record with the ability to articulate investment decisions and portfolio performance.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working in a lean organisation with minimal supervision.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within a family office, hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, asset manager, or institutional investment platform.

• Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, Interactive Brokers, or similar trading and market data platforms.

• Knowledge of Python or other analytical tools is advantageous.

• CFA or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
