The Opportunity
Parker Trutec is looking for an IT professional ready to move beyond a narrow support role and develop ownership of a business-critical ERP system. The primary long-term responsibility is Epicor/CMS administration. The position also supports the company's IT systems and infrastructure, giving the right person broad technical exposure and meaningful project responsibility.
This is not a senior-network-engineer-only position, and it is not an entry-level help desk position. The right candidate should already have a practical IT foundation and some hands-on administrative experience with servers, networks, Microsoft environments, or comparable business systems. You do not need to know everything; you do need to be able to troubleshoot, learn, take ownership, and grow.
What You Will Grow Into
- Learn Epicor/CMS through structured training, knowledge transfer, and hands-on experience with the current ERP lead and experienced users.
- Progressively assume responsibility for daily ERP support, user/security administration, troubleshooting, reporting and data needs, system changes, and larger ERP projects.
- Develop into Parker Trutec's lead Epicor/CMS administrator. There is no artificial takeover deadline; responsibility increases as knowledge and capability develop.
- Learn how manufacturing, production, accounting, purchasing, shipping, inventory, and other business processes are represented in the ERP system.
- Use SQL queries or other data tools when useful for reporting, research, troubleshooting, or extracting information beyond what the CMS interface readily provides.
IT Systems, Infrastructure & Projects
- Perform and grow into administrative work across Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365/Entra, DNS/DHCP, file/print services, and related systems.
- Support and troubleshoot switches, VLANs, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, internet connectivity, and general TCP/IP networking.
- Assist with virtualization, servers, storage, backups/recovery, PCs, printers, and plant technology. Provide normal end-user support when needed, but this is not primarily a help desk role.
- Take ownership of IT tasks and projects: research the issue, develop an approach, coordinate resources/vendors, implement, test, document, and follow through.
- Help with cybersecurity, audits, documentation, and growing certification/compliance requirements from Parker Trutec's parent company and major customers.
What We Are Looking For
- Professional IT experience that has progressed beyond basic help desk support.
- Some hands-on experience administering or supporting servers, networks, Microsoft infrastructure, or other business IT systems. Depth in every area is not required.
- Working knowledge of core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching, wireless networking, and preferably VLANs.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and the willingness to dig into unfamiliar problems, research answers, test solutions, and ask for help appropriately rather than immediately escalating everything.
- A genuine interest in ERP/business systems and the desire to make Epicor/CMS administration a primary part of your career.
- Ability to communicate professionally with production employees, office users, management, vendors, and IT partners; dependable attendance, ownership, and follow-through are important.

Our Environment
Parker Trutec operates with a lean IT structure. The IT Manager carries primary responsibility for the Springfield and Urbana facilities, works with outsourced IT providers, and provides oversight for three smaller plants. An Urbana employee assists with help desk support when needed. On the ERP side, an existing Epicor/CMS lead and several knowledgeable employees provide the training base and functional knowledge for the transition.
The primary work location is Springfield, with flexibility to work at Urbana when needed. Epicor/CMS support also extends to Sevierville and Kodak, Tennessee, and Paragould, Arkansas, primarily remotely. Travel to the southern plants would be extremely rare.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Standard eight-hour workday with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime, weekend/holiday work, and after-hours support may occasionally be needed but are generally rare.
- Primarily office-based, but this is a manufacturing environment. You must be comfortable entering production areas when IT support is needed; those areas can be hot, dirty, and noisy.
- Hands-on work may include computers, printers, switches, wireless access points, network closets, cabling checks, and typical IT equipment installation or movement.
