About the Role

We are hiring an experienced ERPNext Developer / Frappe Engineer for an international opportunity in Tanzania.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in ERPNext and the Frappe Framework, with the ability to develop custom applications, customise existing ERP modules, build integrations and support live business systems.

This role is suited to a technically strong developer who can independently handle ERP customisation, workflow automation, reporting, API integrations, implementation support and production troubleshooting.

Candidates with experience in multi-branch ERP systems, inventory management, sales, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, distribution or other business operations will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and customise ERPNext applications using the Frappe Framework.
  • Build custom DocTypes, forms, client scripts, server scripts, workflows, permissions and print formats.
  • Develop backend functionality using Python and frontend customisations using JavaScript.
  • Customise ERPNext modules such as Selling, Buying, Stock, Accounts and other relevant business modules.
  • Develop custom reports, query reports, dashboards and business-specific data views.
  • Design and implement REST API integrations between ERPNext and external applications.
  • Develop automated data synchronisation for inventory, sales orders, delivery notes, customer records and other business transactions.
  • Support ERP implementation, configuration, data migration, testing and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, investigate errors and implement permanent technical fixes.
  • Work with Linux-based server environments and support application deployment, updates, backups and performance optimisation.
  • Maintain code quality, documentation, version control and upgrade-safe custom applications.
  • Coordinate with business users to understand operational requirements and translate them into practical ERP solutions.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with ERPNext and the Frappe Framework.
  • Good programming knowledge of Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience developing custom DocTypes, scripts, workflows and Frappe applications.
  • Practical experience with ERPNext module customisation and business process automation.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks and third-party system integrations.
  • Working knowledge of MariaDB/MySQL, SQL queries and database troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu environments, server configuration and application deployment.
  • Experience in debugging, testing, troubleshooting and supporting production ERP systems.
  • Understanding of Git or other version control systems.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with multi-branch ERP implementations or business groups operating across multiple locations.
  • Exposure to inventory management, sales, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, logistics, retail or distribution workflows.
  • Experience integrating ERPNext with DMS, OMS, e-commerce platforms, business intelligence tools or other enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of custom application migration, ERPNext version upgrades and upgrade-safe development practices.
  • Exposure to reporting tools such as Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience with data migration, system integration, performance optimisation and ERP implementation support.

Required Experience and Candidate Profile

  • 4–7 years of relevant software development experience, preferably with substantial hands-on ERPNext/Frappe development.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering ERPNext customisations or implementations in a business environment.
  • Ability to work independently on development, integration, debugging and technical problem-solving.
  • Good understanding of business processes and the ability to convert requirements into working ERP solutions.
  • Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Tanzania and relocate for the position.

Candidates with deeper ERPNext/Frappe specialisation and strong practical implementation experience will be preferred over candidates with general Python development experience alone.
