ESE Support Facilitator

Position Summary

The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Support Facilitation Teacher provides specialized instructional support and consultation services to students with disabilities in grades 6–12 within the general education classroom. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers to ensure students with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) through the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), accommodations, modifications, specially designed instruction, and evidence-based interventions in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.

The ESE Support Facilitation Teacher serves as a collaborative instructional partner, case manager, and advocate to ensure students with disabilities achieve academic success while remaining in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) whenever appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Support

• Provide specialized instructional support to students with disabilities in general education English Language Arts and Mathematics classrooms.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
• Utilize research-based instructional strategies to improve student achievement in reading, writing, mathematics, and problem-solving.
• Provide small-group and individualized instruction based on student needs.
• Implement specially designed instruction as outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Assist students in developing academic, organizational, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills.
• Support implementation of accommodations and modifications during classroom instruction, assessments, and statewide testing.
• Utilize assistive technology and instructional supports to maximize student access to the curriculum.

Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Services

• Serve as the case manager for assigned students with disabilities.
• Develop, monitor, and revise Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and state laws.
• Schedule and facilitate annual, interim, transition, eligibility, manifestation determination, and reevaluation meetings.
• Maintain complete and accurate ESE compliance documentation.
• Monitor progress toward annual IEP goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with all Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) timelines for evaluations, annual reviews, and reevaluations.
• Coordinate with related service providers regarding implementation of student services.
• Assist with transition planning for secondary students as required by IDEA.

Collaboration

• Collaborate daily with general education ELA and Mathematics teachers regarding instructional planning and student progress.
• Participate in co-teaching, consultation, inclusion support, and collaborative instructional models.
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
• Collaborate with administrators, school psychologists, guidance counselors, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior specialists, and other service providers.
• Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Child Study Team, and problem-solving meetings.
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and educational planning.

Student Assessment

• Administer and interpret academic, curriculum-based, and progress monitoring assessments.
• Utilize assessment data to develop instructional interventions.
• Assist with statewide assessment accommodations and testing procedures.
• Monitor student progress toward academic goals and IEP objectives.
• Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, progress reports, accommodations, and interventions.

Compliance Responsibilities

• Ensure implementation of all accommodations and modifications identified within Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation of specially designed instruction and support facilitation services.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and charter school ESE requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of all student educational records.
• Participate in compliance monitoring and internal audits as required.

Classroom and Behavioral Support

• Assist teachers with implementation of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) when applicable.
• Promote student independence, self-regulation, and positive social-emotional development.
• Support classroom management through collaborative instructional strategies.
• Provide crisis intervention support when appropriate.

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain professionalism consistent with the Florida Educator Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA.
• Participate in required professional development related to Exceptional Student Education, instructional strategies, inclusion, literacy, mathematics, and compliance.
• Maintain current Florida educator certification.
• Participate in school improvement initiatives and committee assignments.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Principal or ESE Director consistent with the position.
