About the role

Join our Minto Frame and Truss operation and lead an estimating function that plays a vital role in delivering quality outcomes for our customers. Working with contemporary design and estimating technology, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how the team operates, build capability and improve the estimating experience from initial plans through to production.

A million ways to make an impact starts with leaders who bring people, processes and customers together. As Estimating Manager, you’ll oversee the planning, allocation and completion of frame and truss estimates, ensuring each project meets customer requirements, building standards, timelines and commercial expectations.

You’ll lead a team with a mix of experience levels, creating an environment where people can develop their technical knowledge, share ideas and produce accurate, high-quality work. You’ll also partner closely with Commercial Sales, Customer Engagement and Manufacturing to make sure commitments are practical, clearly communicated and delivered.

What’s involved

This role gives you the opportunity to:

  • Lead, coach and develop the estimating team, building technical capability and clear pathways for growth.
  • Plan and allocate estimating projects across available resources to meet customer deadlines and business priorities.
  • Oversee quotations and costings, balancing competitive customer outcomes with margin and gross profit expectations.
  • Monitor estimating performance, identify emerging risks and provide clear reporting on service levels, turnaround times and commercial results.
  • Work with customers and internal teams to resolve enquiries, clarify project requirements and improve the end-to-end experience.
  • Partner with Commercial Sales to build understanding of frame and truss products, manufacturing capabilities and service options.
  • Ensure the team remains current with design software, take-off methods, manufacturing techniques and relevant building requirements.
  • Improve systems and ways of working, turning team feedback and performance insights into practical changes.
  • Support safe working practices and encourage the team to identify and address health and safety risks.

You’ll have space to make decisions, test better approaches and help shape the future of the Minto operation, with Inspiring you to give it a red hot go reflected in how we support learning and continuous improvement.

About You

You’re a practical and approachable leader who understands that strong estimating results come from capable people, disciplined processes and genuine collaboration.

You’re comfortable moving between technical detail, customer conversations and team leadership. You can prioritise competing projects, make well-reasoned decisions and explain expectations clearly. Just as importantly, you enjoy helping others grow and creating a team environment where questions, ideas and constructive feedback are welcomed.

You’ll join a collaborative operation where Estimating, Sales, Customer Engagement and Manufacturing work together to deliver reliable outcomes for customers.

What you’ll need

  • Experience in frame and truss estimating, detailing, design or a closely related building or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing a technical team.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction plans accurately.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, construction practices and frame and truss products.
  • Strong numerical capability and experience preparing accurate quotations and costings.
  • Confidence managing workloads, priorities, deadlines and performance measures.
  • Strong customer service, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with engineered design or estimating software; knowledge of Pryda systems would be advantageous.
  • A practical commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
