Job Summary

The Estimator & Project Manager - Land Clearing is primarily responsible for overseeing all estimating of land clearing projects and procurement of all timber. They will regularly collaborate with all staff within the Timber Harvesting Department, Forestry Department, Land Clearing Department, and Operations Manager to maintain schedules and achieve goals. In addition, this position will provide leadership and guidance to all staff foresters.

Description of Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify operational obstacles and develop roadmaps defining success through clear end goals and application
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and execution of all timber sale SOP’s
  • Develops and maintains relationships with landowners, contractors, industry representatives, and project stakeholders
  • Lead and develop staff with structured programs and procedures
  • Meets with internal executives on a regular basis to discuss markets, forecasts, and develop strategy
  • Coordinates with Operations Manager, Timber Harvest Supervisor, and Land Clearing Superintendent to effectively execute projects to their maximum potential
  • Maintains knowledge of all project requirements, contract information, and required timelines
  • Keeps up to date on current restrictions and procedures relevant to timber harvesting and land clearing
  • Coordinates with State and Federal agencies responsible for environmental compliance
  • Oversees the company’s forestry software and hardware systems, as well as technology projects or software updates that manage productivity of company’s forestry operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all FSC records and certifications
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiencies of current policies and procedures and make suggestions on ways to improve
  • Produce revenue reports for land clearing projects.
  • Complete end of job analysis of timber sales relating cruise volumes and cut volumes to job costs, identifying profit/loss
  • Keeps up to date on location of equipment and activities at jobsites.
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold and exposure to dust.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, stand, and sit for up to 10 or more hours a day.
  • Use of personal protective equipment is required.
